A Day in the Life of a Sales Manager

What does your role involve?

As a Sales Manager, I speak to potential customers all over Germany, and introduce them to Zenjob. Our goal is to arrange meetings with a diverse range of companies, where we can explain Zenjob in detail. Essentially my role is to get new companies excited about Zenjob.

What does a typical day in your role as Sales Manager at Zenjob look like?

My day starts at 9AM. Firstly I meet with my colleagues over a coffee and we talk about the previous day. Then we go into our office and answer emails, requests etc. After that we start calling companies and (hopefully) we arrange lots of meetings. Every day at 11:48 we go for lunch together at various hot spots near the office. After lunch, first we have a round of table tennis, then we get back to work.

What do you love about your role, and how does this relate to working at Zenjob?

As a Sales Manager I structure my day however I want. When and how I complete my tasks is entirely up to me. Also I love the feeling when a customer who I have brought on board makes an order. Everyone here in the team values each other’s work, and we are all really helpful if you ever have any questions or queries.

What is the most challenging and rewarding thing about your work?

The biggest challenge is mostly to convince more traditional customers of the value of our digital, innovative product. The biggest reward is sounding our gong after every deal, and celebrating this with my colleagues.

How would you describe your team?

Our team is certainly unique. What defines us is our sense of humour! Our team events such as paintball keep morale high, and help us bond as a team.

What do you think makes working at Zenjob special?

We are a young team, and we all have the same goal of revolutionising the world of work. What makes our work really pleasant is our flat hierarchies. We often end up planning April Fools’ jokes with the CEO!

What advice would you give anyone who wants to work in sales?

You will always get a “No” from customers. But you can always turn that “No” into a “YES”. Stay ambitious and don’t give up, and you will succeed.

One fun fact about yourself

On the weekends I travel all across Germany to support my team (Hertha BSC) in the Bundesliga. Sometimes I even have to spend 18 hours on a train! Some people think that’s crazy. I don’t!
