My Employer Branding Film Project – Life at Zenjob

J9 and Martin 2.jpg

I began my internship at Zenjob five months ago. Since then, I have been given the opportunity to drive some really interesting projects that I have learnt so much from. From implementing a new applicant tracking system and careers page to developing a mentoring programme and producing an employer branding video, which is what I’m going to write about today!

So, what is an employer branding video?

An employer branding video is supposed to capture the uniqueness of a company. We wanted to show what Zenjob is like on the inside. What is our mission, who are the people, what makes Zenjob special, and why would you want to work here?

I was really enthusiastic to write a video brief with my colleagues. I know how much Zenjob has to offer and, being passionate about imagery, it was fun to come up with a vision of how we could put it all together.

What did we want to capture?

Let’s start with Zenjob’s values: hungry, honest, humble, and helpful. They are a huge part of the Zenjob culture, and there are posters all around the office to remind everyone that this is how we work.

The mission. In order to work at Zenjob, it is important to believe in its mission statement: to change the future of work and become the best player for temporary staffing. We asked the founders to share their opinion on how far Zenjob has come in reaching its goal.

The office. Thanks to the big, beautiful Berlin headquarters, with its modern interior design, open spaces and natural lighting, we had the perfect backdrop for shooting an eye-catching film.

The people. The team spirit at Zenjob is what it’s really all about. People genuinely love coming to work every day, with a smile on their faces. The people at Zenjob are passionate. We wanted to capture their passion by filming them at work and during their innovative stand-up meetings. And let’s not forget about the monthly All Hands Meeting where the entire team comes together to celebrate any major achievements that are a result of the company’s ambition to constantly improve. Everyone at Zenjob is friendly! They all appreciate having a spontaneous chat over coffee and spending time together during the complimentary company lunch on Fridays. But they also love to unwind together after work. At Zenjob you gain friends, not just work colleagues.

Last but not least, our dogs. There are quite a few famous dogs in the office, and of course, they had to be featured in the film as well!

How did it play out?

One thing I learned from this experience is to never expect things to go as scheduled and to always plan ample time to set up everything!

Things come up; people are busy. Trying to make sure everyone is in the right place at the right time and sticking to schedule so you don’t leave anyone hanging is not an easy task. But in the end, we managed to shoot some excellent testimonials and interviews thanks to some quick reorganisation and flexible colleagues.

Lighting, sound and props are the key to a successful brand film. It is not quite as simple as just having a beautiful office. We had to find the right rooms, move around tables and chairs, use whiteboards and huge cardboard boxes to minimise echoes and position plants to create a homely look. These things might take time, but they make such a difference in how everything looks and sounds on screen.

All in all, the filmmaker Martin, who happens to be my hubby, got a ton of amazing footage. I think everyone who was involved in the video had a lot of fun and we are all very excited to see the result. We can’t wait to show everyone who is interested in working with us what a day in the life of a Zenjob employee feels like. And we hope that everyone who shares our vision and values will consider applying for one of our open positions!

My time at Zenjob is slowly coming to an end as I move on to new ventures, but I have to say that working at Zenjob has been one of the best things I have ever done for my change in career and I am so thankful for all the opportunities it has given me.

And that is a wrap! Video coming soon...
